I hope to help children develop a strong community and sense of belonging within our classroom. Additionally, I’m interested in making sure that all families feel welcome and connected to the classroom and the curriculum. In my free time I love to hike with my dog, cook, go to the beach and in the winter practice my newest hobby, snowboarding!

Pam Battin-Sacks
Lead Teacher, Nursery Program III
Since 2007 I have been the Lead Teacher in the Nursery 3 Program at CSDC. I have enjoyed working with children and families for 33 years as an early childhood educator, parent educator, and child and family therapist. Prior to coming to CSDC I was Preschool Director of the early childhood program at Temple Israel in Portsmouth, NH for 11 years. I hold a Masters degree in early childhood education from Temple University.
A strong professional interest of mine is integrating the arts, in particular creative drama and movement, throughout the curriculum. I believe the arts are a powerful way of promoting self-confidence, critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills in children. I also enjoy working with parents about their hopes, dreams, and concerns they have for their children.
My family and I are long-term residents of Portsmouth, NH and our daughter, Rachel, is at Sarah Lawrence College in NY. I have a strong interest in the theater: I presently study acting and perform in Newburyport, MA, and my daughter is a theatre major. Other favorite activities of mine are gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Sandy Cormier
Lead Teacher, Toddler Classroom
I completed my B.S. in Family Studies with a Nursery School – Kindergarten concentration in 1990 from UNH. Since then I have taken a few graduate courses and plan on pursuing my Master’s Degree in the near future. I am a member of NAEYC and EEIN as well as a member of the Diversity Committee here at the center.
I have been teaching here at the CSDC since 1990 with the first sixteen years being in the Preschool I classroom with three and four year old children. In August of 2006 I looped to the Toddler Classroom where I am currently teaching. Every day is a new adventure as the toddlers are continuously changing.
My professional interests include the Specials Rights of all children, diversity and anti-bias curriculum. I am committed to partnering with parents when it comes to the care and education of their children. Communication between home and school on a daily basis is very important to me. Here at the center we utilize emergent curriculum, long term investigations and documentation to support children’s natural curiosity and inquiry. We believe that children have the right to explore their natural environment, self identity, self-expression and celebrate their individuality and uniqueness.
I received my New Hampshire Early Learning Credential for Lead Teacher Level four and will be applying for the Trainer, Faculty, Mentor Credential.

Brooke Davino
Assistant Teacher, Infant/Toddler Programs, (On Leave 2009-10)
I recently graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Family Studies at UNH. As an undergrad I interned in the infant classroom for two semesters and also in the Preschool II classroom for one semester. Since then I have led Kindergarten Camp, worked as an assistant teacher in Preschool I and am now working as an assistant teacher in all three nursery programs. I have already begun working on my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, with an option in Special Needs, at UNH which I plan to receive in May 2009.
Growing up I always had an interest in working with young children. I find it rewarding to know that each day I have an impact on how each child learns. I believe that the early years of a child’s development are the most crucial time to be taught because these concepts and ideas are the ones that stay with them for a lifetime!
Last March I studied the Early Childhood Education system in Southern France. During the trip I had the opportunity to observe first hand how young children are taught in another country. The main difference that interested me was that all Early Childhood Education in France is free to the public!
